Silvertongue Southern RR Locomotive #794

Number 794 is an Athearn Hustler converted to HOn3. I added a full interior, DCC with sound and lights, and a functioning radiator fan that blows cooling air across the resistor circuit for the LEDs. I also installed a keep-alive, and a diode to prevent any back EMF from damaging the function circuit in the DCC decoder.

Here is the packaging of the electronic components: Decoder, Keep-Alive, speaker, and Radiator fan motor
Cab floor and bulkhead (green parts) scratch built with styrene.
Various detail parts added to Hustler body
Complete interior with engineer and fireman
Operating radiator fan shown. This is a photo-etched fan and grill from Plano.
I boarded up the window because someone shot it out. You can just see the some of the rusty bullet holes in the cab. The Silvertongue is a pretty cheap company and the scrap boards were a lot less than a new pane of glass.
